Combination Grapples

APPLICATION

The combination grapples are designed for handling short wood, logs or tree-length. They are used when a combination of wood types must be handled with on grapple. The tines bypass one another to grip a single log or a partial bundle. They can be installed on knuckle boom loaders and rubber-tire or tract excavators converted for logging. This type of grapple is ideal in slashing application and the heavy-duty models can be matched to a live heel for tree-length handling.

Cylinders

 2  CYLINDERS

  • Bolt-on heads for cost effective maintenance.
  • High-pressure piston seals (10 000 psi).
  • Rod leakproof twin inner cylinder head seals.
  • Cylinders designed to match machine operating pressure.
  • Self aligning bushings on larger models.
  • Lock valve standard on heavy-duty models.

Rotators

 3  ROTATORS

  • On New Generation RT models (type 3), rotator is fully sealed with high side-loading capabilities, some models available with extra ports for saw or other accessories.
  • Full 360° continuous rotators.
  • Many models to match machine capacity and operation requirements for maximum life and productive time.

Structure

 3  STRUCTURE

  • Closed wide jaw and synchro-gears on heavy-duty models.
  • Synchro link system for synchronizing jaws opening and closing motion.

Pins

 4  Pins

  • Pins contribute to structural integrity without adding weight.
  • Pins are chromed and heat treated.
  • Safety interlock system with keyed control.
  • Oversized pins mounted on bronze bushings to reduce maintenance costs.

Characteristics

 5  ROTATORS

  • Built of 165 000 lb tensile strength steel (65% stronger than T1 steel)
  • Three times the strength of typical cold rolled steel
  • Higher wear resistance and best resistance/weight ratio
  • Precision machining assures long rotator life.
  • Fit and part interchangeability enhanced by line boring after welding

* Special steel with 44% better abrasion resistance than typical AR-500 when tested as per ASTM-G65B and an average of 50% better in comparative field test.
