ELITE LOAD N' GO

See how the Elite Load N' Go transformed their fleet

An Interview with Adam Cole

A Day in the Field with Hauling Away

Municipal cleanup is all about efficiency, safety, and consistency — and few people understand that better than Adam Cole of Hauling Away. We spent a day in the field with Adam to see how the Elite Load N’ Go performs in a real municipal setting and to hear his perspective after decades behind the controls.

Rotobec: Adam, walk us through a typical day on the job. What does that usually look like?

Adam Cole:
Most days, you’re just picking up piles. Every section of the city has its own scheduled day for what they call yard waste or bulk solid waste pickup. You’ll usually start between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning, get assigned a section with a set number of streets and neighborhoods, and then you just go.

You have a starting point, and from there, you clean every street. In neighborhoods, you’re usually weaving back and forth to do both sides. On major roads, you’ll do one side at a time because of traffic — you don’t want to be heading into oncoming vehicles. In quieter areas, you have more freedom to move around, which really helps productivity.

Rotobec: How does the Load N’ Go change the way that work gets done?

Adam:
Traditionally, you’d have an operator and a ground person — someone pulling debris closer so the operator doesn’t have to climb in and out of the truck constantly. With this setup, that movement is basically gone.

You’re not climbing down ladders, walking around, getting back in, and climbing back up again. Before, with other setups, that was just part of the job. Now, all of those extra steps are eliminated, which makes a big difference.

It’s easier on the operator, reduces fatigue, and makes it much more realistic for a single person to run the machine efficiently.

Rotobec: You mentioned fatigue — how important is that over the long term?

Adam:
It’s huge. And I’m not talking about hours in a day — I’m talking years. You get someone who’s been running a loader their whole life, and eventually their knees or joints start to go. With this setup, you’ve eliminated one of the biggest physical stress points.

That can easily extend an operator’s career by five or six years. They’re still doing what they know, just without all the unnecessary wear and tear. There are a lot of pluses to this configuration.

Rotobec: You’ve run loaders for a long time. How does this compare from a build and performance standpoint?

Adam:
I ran a loader for over 20 years, so when I look at a machine, I’m paying attention to line configuration, boom design, pin setup — all of that. When you compare this to a lot of competing loaders in this category, the quality of construction is very different.

You’re taking the same great quality of an Elite loader and putting it into this application. The debris removal is, in my opinion, top of the food chain in the loader business.

Once people get into it and actually run it, they’re going to notice the smoothness, the speed, and the power right away.

Premium Craftsmanship

Rotobec: After seeing it work in a real municipal environment, what stood out to you most?

Adam:
It was good to see the 910 Load N’ Go working exactly where it’s designed to work — picking up debris off the street in a municipal setting. We got to see it do what it’s supposed to do and really see the potential behind it.

At one point, we looked up and realized the whole street was already done. That says a lot.

Rotobec: Any final thoughts on the day?

Adam:
It was a great experience. None of it would’ve been possible without everyone involved, and we really enjoy working with Rotobec. It’s easy to do a good job when you’re working with a good company.
